I just cut out a tree using fusible web but I ironed it on the wrong side of the fabric! Is there anyway to get rid of the "glue" so I can use this tree??

dublb 10-06-2011 06:44 PM

I have no idea but I'm so sorry!

If you have more of the fabric, I'd make a new tree! Maybe someone else has a better idea??

I don't think it will come off well enough without ruining the fabric? What you can do is trace the shape exactly of the tree fused to the wrong side. Cut out and iron the new tree to the right side of the fabric exactly over the first tree. It will make it stiffer but it may be doable and save your block?

can you "steam" off the fusing?

luckylindy333 10-06-2011 07:13 PM

Almost every time I use fusible I inevitabley put the darn stuff on the right side at least once. I think if you did get it off, the tree would be all pulled out of shape.

It's a sticky situation. I think you are stuck.

(Sorry, I didn't mean to make light of your situation. Sorry it happened.)

I would make a new tree.

Incidentally, you ironed on the fusible *before* you cut out the tree, didn't you? It's a lot easier that way.

It can be done, but, what a pain in the butt... put it in the freezer for 30 mins and then scrunch it up in your hand like a ball. The fusible becomes brittle and will flake or peel off. You may have to do this a couple of times. If you have more material, I would make a new tree...much less time consuming.

Okay, this is a stupid question, but what does the reverse of the fabric look like? Sometimes I use the " wrong" side of the fabric. Gives the piece a subtle looking color choice. Can you do that? If it's already cut, might not work because of the mirror image thing...
