Fusible s and Longarm

I am making a large quilt with a large portion of fusible appliqué. Do I need to stitch it all down before quilting it, or can I just start quilting it. Each piece will be very densely quilted.

I made two of Toni Whitney's applique quilts (bear and moose) and quilted them on my longarm without any previous stitching. However, these were not very large, so I didn't have to roll the appliqued portion. I think I would float the entire top, just to be sure none of the applique shifts by being rolled, and it should be okay.

Great. I will do that! Thank you!

So you made sure you covered the edges?

I would worry more about edge stitching if the finished quilt is to be washed often. If it is to be primarily a wall quilt, precise edge stitching is not as important.
