This may have been discussed before, but I wanted to ask: what is the going price for sending quilt tops out to be quilted? I know this may vary from area to area and of course by size, but did not know what it would cost to send one out.

It also varies on what type of quilting you want done on it :D:D:D

I live in East Texas. I just got a price on having a queen size quilt machine quilted and the binding done ( or whatever it's properly called to complete the quilt edges after quilting ) and was quoted a price of $75 for quilting and $30 for the binding.

Thanks Betty-that really helps me to have kind of a ball park price-was not sure whether it would be worth it to send out or wrestle with it on a regular machine. I guess that all depends on how much you value your time and how much jingle you have in your pocket-HA!

To have my LQS long arm my king size quilt with a simple all over pattern is almost $200.

I'm to new to quilting to attempt quilting it myself, however, I do hope to learn how someday. This is only my 2nd top and at this point, I feel like I have put way to much heart and sole into piecing the top to screw it up with a DIY quilting job.

It will cost way more than $75 for a queen in my area.

My tops cost an average of $150 to send out to be quilted.

A simple all over, free hand, will cost a penny a square inch. So if your quilt is a king size, lets say 110x110, will cost 110.00 dollars. If you are mailing the quilt, back and forth would be another 30.00 more or less. That price would be only for quilting.

Quilters charge different prices depending on where you live etc.

Since the cost of batting is increasing along with cotton, some of my regular LAQ's are pricing batting in addition. They have always included batting in the past.
