Need help please! My sister and I are doing a wedding sampler quilt for my niece. We are trying to impliment blocks that are about her life and family. I can not seem to find a block about grandfather or grandpa what so ever. He was our wonderful brother who has went on his heavenly journey. We are doing 10 inch blocks Can anyone help?

What did he do for a living, any hobbies, a favorite animal? If you can't find a granpa block use something like that. Quilter's Cache has "Grampy's Shirts". It's paper piecing which I do not like but you may. Was he in the service?

How about Kings crown with is name in the middle or a star block with is picture in it.

There are not many Grandfather / Grandpa blocks out there we should make sure we fix this. How about a photo of your daughter and her grandfather maybe when she was a baby or a little girl? Just a thought.

Here's one, it's 16", but you should be able to pare it down to the size you want.

How about a block that relates to the state he was born/married or lived in? I've used the Ohio Star for such a block. You could also design one using his initials, with squares and 1/2 triangles. Do you know if he went to college or what he did for a living? Did he have a hobby like fishing? All can be creatively used. Even a sunbonnet boy (can't remember the name they gave him!), or a pet block works. Lots of choices!
