guild meeting

well, I loved it. I went to my first meeting and it was wonderful. they were discussing show worthy quilts and what it takes to get into a quilt show and stuff. The lady who was presenting was wonderful and her quilts..... oh to one day be that talented and it was all hand sewn and applique. I am going to go to the next meeting and sign up as a member. I can't wait till the next meeting. hopefully they will get their website up and running soon so I can learn more about what is going on.

congrats on finding your guild. it sure is nice to have face to face time with other quilters :)

When I quit working I put off joining the guild for a long time. Now I am involved in two guilds and two sewing groups and forming another one. I have sew days to go to every week, some three days a week. I've made many new quilting and non quilting friends. If you are available and want to be out and involved in your community a guild will be an amazing opportunity to find hidden talents. Raise your hand to volunteer just one time and you are off and running! LOL

We are now so busy with the community TV it was difficult to keep attending guild meetings. I do have a group of close quilting friends which helps and a local Senior Center that quilts every day so plenty of inspiration. AND THIS QB

but let me reminded you of this.......it is not always the eye catching/smashing quilt that will get good marks. Simple design with good workmanship also is reognized. There will always be the standouts but there should be recognition for the simpler ones.

That is wonderful news! You will be inspired by the accomplishments of fellow quilters. You will be encouraged, and you will learn lots. And you will treasure the friendships!

I just joined my 3rd guild. They are all different in size and character, and each has so much to offer.

I joined my first guild last December and have been welcomed into the fold with open arms. I really enjoy attending meetings and seeing all the beautiful work the other ladys do. We just had a memeber come back from a trip to Pahducha where she had a quilt on display. It was so awesome listening to her tell us about her trip back there and what her comment sheets said. I'm not ready to share any of my tops yet but enjoy our 4th Saturday get togethers, when I remember to go to them.
Glad you found one for you to.

Guilds are wonderful. I don't know how quilters find time to join more than one, lol. I love going to the meeting and listening and viewing and just sharing a great "quilter's night out"!

oh these quilts were "simply" done, by most show standards. no over quilting or over applique, but just beautifully put together. she had one quilt that had a little embellishment but other than that they were just a "simple" well put together and elegant quilts. no glitz or glamor just wonderfully chosen fabric and fabric placement.
