Guild Nametag
I just joined my first quilting guild. I need to make myself a nametag (one that hangs around my neck)... does anyone have some instructions to share with me?
Thanks! |
Our guild gives us a piece of fabric (the type that goes through the printer) with the guild logo and your name that is the center of out name tag.
1. I just took my scraps from a quilt that I was making, sewed them together like a crazy quilt, 2. Cut strips from that as borders and sew them to the center 3. Put a "backing " on it and pinned a strap in place 4. added a "binding" ans VOILA! done One think I wished I had done that several of the ladies had was add a small pocket on the back. Have fun! Hope that you enjoy it. |
I made a teapot (paper-pieced) because I just love my tea! I embroidered my name on it and get many compliments. I would suggest for you to try to make a fun nametag which represents you and what you like.

I made a grandmother's flower garden "flower" in 30's repros and embroidered my name on it. Maybe you can choose a favorite quilt block that you like and do it in a smaller size.

Just make sure you either leave room for your name or have it so that it can be easily read from several feet away.
If they can't read it then people won't get to know you soon enough. ali |
I've seen all types of name tags from really fancy to fairly simple. A lot of ladies make pin on name tags instead of the ones that hang around your neck. Most of the simple ones are just a square with a white fabric in the center, quilted and bound and pinned on.

Here's a few fun ideas. http://www.flickr.com/groups/sewittogether/

I just joined a guild, and was given a beautiful quilted name tag that had a yellow bow in one corner, a small button flower and a little bee applique in the bottom corner. The background was a light blue check and had a white rectangle stitched on the front to write my name on it.

Mine is a blue dog with rhinestone eyes. I paper pieced it.
