Loretta,
I've just been practicing my stitches. I'd like to try to attempt to do hand quilting on a lap quilt for my mom for xmas. |
Loretta,
PRETTY view out your window! I noticed your avatar change right away. |
Hi Ms.Grace,
When your threaded needle is ready, START ON THE QUILT TOP PUT YOUR NEEDLE IN BETWEEN THE TOP AND NOT THROUGH THE BOTTOM !!! START ABOUT 1" AWAY FROM WHERE YOU WANT TO PUT YOUR FIRST STITCH. PULL YOUR THREAD THROUGH THE TOP (GENTLY POP THE KNOT THROUGH THE TOP ONLY) I TAKE A SECOND STITCH HERE THROUGH ALL THREE LAYERS CONTINUE NOW THROUGH ALL THREE LAYERS I hope that this helps some Linda |
Faith I do the same method as you.
I also use the Dixon pencils.. They are fantastic.. the only thing I hate about them is that the lead always seems to break off! |

BUT ... if you want to move a line you have drawn a little spit on the finger and a rub and poof it is gone. Getting down to nubs.. need to get more soon... :D Deb aka Faith |
Hi, I was wondering were you can buy Dixon pencils?
|
Where can you buy Dixon pencils? Right now I am using up the ones sent to me years ago by a fellow quilter in Wisconsion. I was thinking I may just have to search online to see if you can buy them that way. Have not seen them at any of the local quilt shops here. Joanns has another brand but they don't look as soft leaded as the Dixon.
If I find a source I will let you know ! Deb aka Faith |
