Hand-quilting Question?
1 Attachment(s)
Since I am still relatively new to this quilting thingy, I have a question for the great quilt sages out there. I am lap quilting 42 blocks (14 1/2" square) using 80/20 batting. It says on the package to quilt 4 inches. Now, if I am quilting all the way around the 2 inch strips and the 2 inch block in the middle of each block, do I need to go back and hand-quilt every 4 inches on each of the strips? I am pretty sure that this 1930's Playtime quilt pattern is not going to fall apart if I quilt it around each 2 inch strip but wanted to check with the experts. Thank you for your input. Here is the picture of 4 of the 33 blocks that are completed.

You should be fine with the way you are quilting. Very pretty blocks

If you quilt around each 2" strip will definitely work. I love your quilt blocks!

I think the 4 inch mentioned on the package (or whatever other packages indicate) is for the maximum distance apart you can quilt. I don't pay attention since I always quilt closer than that..

Usually the packages say "You can quilt lines up to 4" apart" or something like that. So, if you are quilting lines that are only 2" apart, you are easily within their recommendations. Oh and your blocks are wonderful! Love the design and colors.

I think you will be fine. Nice blocks!
