I just joined the 'Blade Club' here on the QB. I bought 10 packs with a Rain check! at a sale price of $1.49. Way cool, now I've got 20 blades and can cut away like a 'Mad Woman' on my FatQ's (got to use my Hubbys gift card to do it too!) 8-)

I LOVE mine.

You will love those blades. I used one to cut up some jeans the other day and it's still good and sharp. I even used it on batting and insul-brite.

I believe the blade club is when you buy the carpet cutting blades from Harber Freight. LOL

Ann L 05-05-2011 12:52 PM

Good for you. I hope to join next week. I have a friend visiting and we are going to go find the nearest Harbor Freght. It will keep us busy for the day plus a good buy to boot.

carolynbb 05-05-2011 01:10 PM

So these are carpet cutting blades? how do you hold them? do they come in some sort of handle? do people get these b/c they are a lot less expensive than getting the cicular blades that fit in our rotary tools? My dh looks Harbor freight so I end up in there from time to time.

sewcrafty 05-05-2011 01:21 PM

These are circular blades just like you purchase for your rotary cutter. These at Harbor Freight are actually made for cutting carpets. I have an old Fiskars and it fits perfectly!

Connie in CO 05-05-2011 01:27 PM

I have mine in a pink Olfa Limited Edition rotary cutter.

These fit right in your rotary cutter. You can get 2 blades for less than 2 bucks.

SewExtremeSeams 05-05-2011 01:49 PM

Ya know, I bought my blades at Harbor Freight quite a few months ago. However, last week is when I used my first one. And, they work just as well as the Olfa blades and for a lot less money.

The only difference I found was that the little circle that the screw fits into is completely round instead of the type of hole that Olfa has. Fit the same and cuts just as well. For $1, you can't beat that.

Would love to find those blades for my 60mm rotary cutter. Anyone have any ideas?

eashka 05-05-2011 01:59 PM

When they figure out what you are using the carpet cutter blades for the price will sky-rocket. Better stock up while they are still affordable. Blades are so expensive.

Airwick156 05-05-2011 02:01 PM

They don't have any for the 60mm rotary cutter. But if you decide to get a new rotary cutter, get one that is a 45 mm and you can get the blades CHEAP CHEAP. They are called Carpet Replacement Blades and they come in a package of 2 and the Number on them is item #97642. Well worth the price. AND if they do not have the blades, and have the carpet cutters...get one of them. And just toss or give away the actual cutter. :) Thats only less then $4.00 for the cutter and it comes with a couple of blades too.

Thank you. I do have a 45mm rotary cutter but I prefer my 60mm for my large cutting (if that makes any sense). I will have to switch my preference though, because I refuse to pay the outrageous price for the 60mm blades. :-D My current 60mm blade is about to give out. :-( :-( :-(

Have you checked online to see if they will ship to canada?

cabinqltr 05-05-2011 04:44 PM

I got a flier in the mail and blades are on sale til the end of the month 2/ $1.49. You can not beat that. I love them.

ArizonaQuilts1 05-05-2011 05:31 PM

This blade tip was the best ever! I ordered some on Tuesday. Can't believe the price. Only $1.49 for 2 blades at Harbor Freight. They happened to be on sale too....regular price was $1.99 for 2 blades. Can't beat that price anywhere.

Thank you so much for the good lead.

Mary

deedum 05-05-2011 07:57 PM

Yep, they work well. I just got my rain check in, and I am keeping this order just for me! I have shared my other orders, but not this time! So don't tell anyone, but they are mine alone :)

Krystyna 05-06-2011 02:42 AM

Me too! Stopped in there a few days ago. What a bargain! And they work great.

jitkaau 05-06-2011 03:05 AM

I think a buying holiday in the 'States' would well and truly pay for itself. Last blade that I bought cost $14.50...

Check on line. I have heard that you can get them on line.

Mamawcj 05-06-2011 05:45 AM

The closest HF's are 2 hours from me, but everytime I am around them I stock up. Didn't know they were on sale, but as I am going to be near one Monday, I will definitely swing by the store. I, too, prefered using my 60mm. cutter, but have switched to the 45 because of the price of blades.

Nanaof4 05-06-2011 05:56 AM

I love my HF blades. My DH picks up a few packages every time he stops in the store. You cannot beat the price. Love the blade club.

Lucy90 05-06-2011 05:59 AM

Welcome to the club. I love my blades and they do last a along time. I know some people aren't happy with them but I have never had a problem. Enjoy!

wyogrannie 05-06-2011 06:34 AM

I went to the Harbor Freight in Reno and they didn't carry them. I don't think we even have Harbor Freight in Wyoming, at least not where I live.

hmay60 05-06-2011 06:42 AM

When we were at Paducah for the quilt show, we found a Harbor Freight. But, they were all out of the blades, they had quit a run on them. He said the main warehouse had a huge inventory of them and they would be getting more. We told him we wouldn't be back till next year. There is a Harbor Freight 30 miles from me, and when I am over there will check, they were out the last time.

NatalieMacDonald 05-06-2011 07:06 AM

What is the Blade Club?

JusticeClan 05-06-2011 07:08 AM

I plan to buy some the next time we go to Phoenix shopping. Can you tell me exactly what I ask for. Someone said it was carpet blades. Thanks you.

NatalieMacDonald 05-06-2011 07:12 AM

Why can't we order blades? Would they be allowed in Canada?

tweezy50 05-06-2011 07:20 AM

Whoopee! I am a member of something and didn'[t even realize it! I use them all the time, thanks to finding out about them here a while back. I live waaaaaay out in the sticks, so to speak, and last time we went to Sioux City, I stopped in Harbor Freight and loaded up. Didn't take all they had, but got about ten packages. Just love them.

salsalady 05-06-2011 07:35 AM

hi icon 17, no wonder i can never find blades at harbor freight, you are buying them all. LOL my husband has been there 2 times to get me some. they never have any. will have to come to your house to use yours. LOL lorene in everett,wa also

lillybeck 05-06-2011 08:10 AM

I love these. I was a skeptic when I started reading this on the board but now I am hooked

Marysewfun 05-06-2011 08:24 AM

Where is this "Blade Club" and how/where do you join?

The last time I was in Harbor Freight there was just one package dangling on the hook (which I grabbed) and when I asked the clerk if they had any more, he just gave me a cute (knowingly) smirk and said "no, they didn't get many in this time."

saraaev 05-06-2011 08:44 AM

I have been buying my blades for the past year from HF. I signed up for their on-line flyer and get a "head's up" when the blades will be on sale. I then order then on-line and they get her quite quickly. Have only had 1 out the the ones I've used be a little wonky. I love it. My sewing budget wouldn't stand the price of them every where else. I occasionally stick a pkg of 2 of them in my SP boxes. Always buy 10 sets a a time. Sara

Olivia's Grammy 05-06-2011 09:10 AM

We have a HF store opening in our area. I need to check on the opening date so I can join "the blade club"

quilter1943 05-06-2011 09:33 AM

Hopefully not the store in Daytona Beach. When I asked for them, the young man said, "Oh, you're a quilter. My mother is a quilter . . . etc" and we had a great chat. He said they can't order enough to keep them in stock all the time.

patdesign 05-06-2011 09:39 AM

I have purchased several packs, some of the blades simply wont cut, others work well. Just a heads up.

Kehoeta 05-06-2011 09:50 AM

WOW - You guys just saved me a bundle. I'm picking mine up from Harbor Freight tonight.
