I read an article a few months back about a HARRIET POWERS: A FREED SLAVE TELLS STORIES THROUGH QUILTING. She made this quilt...I was so excited when I saw this at the musuem and my husband was amazed that I recogized it and knew the story...this was so cool....I wonder if I still have the article. I give many of my magazines to co-workers. I just google her name...lots of info on her and he quilts out there.
