fabric from Ikea?

I was just looking online at their fabrics and they have some beautiful modern prints at a decent price. and although I don't live by an Ikea store, my husband plays golf once a month with a guy near Chicago! So I was wanting to know if the material is really good, if it is I might just go with him next time he does a golf run to grab some fabric! :)

thanks for looking and any advice you might have!

Ikea has fabric? I had no clue! I will check their site.

I wonder if it would be more of a decorating weight, like for chair cushions, etc?

Hi,
I often use fabric from Ikea. My favourite fabric called "Ditte". Itīs unicolored cotton in several coulors. I make several Amish-Quilts of it.
But here in Germany many peoples says that the qualitiy ist not so well as specially Quilting-Fabric.
But I find the quality good and I use it gladly and often

Geta used the canvas fabric from there for purses and it looked very nice.

I live near the Schaumburg store. I have seen the fabric, more from cushion covers, drapery, etc. I know that I wouldn't use it for quilting....

last time i was at ikea none of the fabric was 100% cotton and i found it to be a slightly heavier weight than quilting cotton. i believe they design the fabric more for home dec applications since its typically 54-56 inches wide.

if you judge by their 100% cotton bedding, then i say no. the weave is very coarse and not tightly woven.

the only sewing fabric i see there now is decorator fabric. they used to have bolts of cotton, but not for a long time.

I've seen their fabric designs online, but, judging by Ikea, I think it would be very stiff fabric...more for cushions, drapes...other "heavy" items. I do want to get to an Ikea to see for myself though. Of course, the designs are mod. :)
