One of the members has a FabriCalc for sale and I am interested but a bit worried that it may be too complicated. I do okay using pencil and paper to figure out my yardage but it does take awhile and not at all convenient for spur-of-the moment purchases. She is offering it for a good price. What is your opinion? Thanks!

A FabriCalc is really nice to have. It is farly simple to use. But it also has a compartment on the back where the instruction manual resides. But once you get the hang of it, it is great. I love mine so much, that I bought one for my mom and she had no problem learning it and carries it everyday. HTH

I, on the other hand, am much better with math in my head or on paper than using the fabricalc. I have one that I am considering selling because I found it more trouble to learn using than doing the math myself!

I have one and find that it is confussing to use it. The only thing I can figure is how much backing I need to purchase. My quilt books give my that information. Thumbs down for me.

I have the fabric calculator type chart on my Iphone. It's easy and all visual. If I find the calculator on clearance somewhere I will probably buy it.

Here is a good intro to the FabriCalc. It isn't that hard to use.
