I have seen Texture Magic online, and Saturday when I was at a quilt shop, I saw some fabric that had be textured with it and I really like it. So, since I had a 25% off coupon, I got a pattern for a pocket book, eyeglass case and little zipper pouch made with Texture Magic, and got some Texture Magic. Now as I read the directions that come with the TM and the bag, it says I can use batting if I choose to and it will make it more puffy. The directions do say to quilt the liner with batting, so I wonder if it would be nicer with batting or at least flannel between the outer fabric and the TM. Do any of you have any experience with this and what would you suggest?

Pattern for bag is here: http://www.patriciasfabrichouse.com/ about 1/2 way down the page.

TM info here: http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/...c/description/

Thanks for any guidance.

I have used it both ways and love it with batting. Just layer TM, batting and fabric. Free motion quilt or sew straigt lines and steam. You will love it. Show us what you do.

Maria, Will cotton Warm and Natural batting be ok?

Does the fabric stay soft, or does it get stiff? It looks pretty. So the texture magic stays on the OUTSIDE of the fabric? or is in between the fabric and the batting??

The front fabric is placed face down on the table then the TM (or then the batting and then the TM). Then you FMQ or stitch in a grid pattern on the layer sandwich. Then you hold a steam iron over the back of the "quilted" sandwich and it becomes textured. You are not to touch the iron to the fabric just hold it over it.

Wow, that's really nice! I love the texture it gives.

Never saw this before. Will have to try it as it looks so interesting.

Yes, it really does. I saw both of the projects that were made from the patterns at the links I listed... the baby quilt and the pocketbook. They really turned out nice. They also had samples of the TM used on a silky type material, cotton, and some other types. I didn't have time to look real close, but it is a really neat concept.

I have made the bag you are going to make about a dozen times. Also almost all the other patterns that are available. If you are not using batting, I like the stitching to be about 3/4 of an inch close. With batting you can stitch farther apart.

Is stitching farther apart when using batting a necessity or option?
