"Everyone" suggests that you should work out of your comfort zone once in a while. OK, so I am working on a pattern I really like but the colors really aren't me and I am having a hard time sewing on it. Maybe it isn't the colors themselves so much as the values of them. Wonder if I will like it when I finish it?

Yes, I am doing a paper pieced quilt for my son so out of my zone!

I go outside my comfort zone by using different patterns and techniques.
I applaud you going outside of your color comfort zone :D:D:D

I went out of my comfort zone by making my son and DIL's double wedding ring quilt. It was a bear for me!

I promised myself that I would got outside my zone as much as possible this year. I have many many sewing & quilting goals. One of which is to go thru my sewing room and evaluate all the "tools" & "toys" I have accumulated over the years and haven't used. I should be a show quality quilter by now with all "stuff" I have! =)

I'm trying to machine quilt...definitely out of my comfort zone (as well as my 'do it beautifully' zone).

I have started a french braid and for the life of me I cannot figure it out. I am going to have to take it to my LQS and get some help.

Right now I'm doing the Farmer's Wife Sampler quilt. It's definitely out of my comfort zone. I've never done scrappy before (it's harder than it looks). The blocks finish at 6 1/2" (lots of pieces in each block) and I'm using templates (which is how I learned to quilt but haven't used in years.) I'm learning so much and really enjoying doing the different blocks, some I'd have never tried on my own. I've also never done a "group" project-I'm a solitary type and insecure quilter-showing my blocks to the group was a leap out of my comfort zone. I'd do this again in a heartbeat!

As an apparel sewer, quilting is still out of my comfort zone. That being said, learning to machine quilt beyond SITD will be my learning curve this week. I do like SITD. I think it showcases some fabrics nicely, but it's time to grow a bit.
