I cut the wide satin binding down to a smaller size one time and it worked. LOL --Get a new friend!

Check your local quilt shops. I have seen pre-made, ruffled satin binding at one of my LQS. I think it is made to coordinate with a line of baby type quilt fabric, maybe flannel. It came in pink or blue. You might find it on the internet if it isn't offered locally. IMHO, it would be worth the cost. Also, couldn't she find a minkee type fabric at Joanns or Hancock's, on sale or with a coupon, it would be so nice with the satin ruffle. If this is her first grandchild she might as well get used to spending more than she thought! Just kidding. Your design is very cute. Good luck to all!
