Help! I Got SM Oil On The White Border Of My Quilt!

I was sewing right along, hoping to finish my latest quilt today when I realized my bobbin had just run out. While changing it, I also realized that my oil wick looked a little dry so I put a drop of oil in there. Not a big deal. I've done it at least a hundred times and not once has the newly oiled machine spit back up on my project. This time, however, when I brought my bobbin thread to the top so I could finish FMQing my border, it brought up a glob of oil with it. On my white border! How should I treat this to get it out??

Two ways have worked for me. If it is on my longarm, I rub cornstarch onto the oil stain rather briskly and let it set. If it is quilted and bound, I pre-treat with Dawn dish soap and wash in cold water. Lay it out to dry. Good luck!

OK, I just treated it with Dawn dish soap. I'm going to try to spot clean it since it's almost bound, but not quite yet, but I'm out of cornstarch so I couldn't try that method. Thanks so much!!

It will come out with water and soap. If it was authentic clear machine oil, it isn't a heavy oil and won't stain.

Corn starch is what I have found works when I get a drop of oil on a quilt top that I am long arming

Thanks, ladies! I tried the Dawn Dish Soap trick and it seems to have worked. I'll have to pick up more cornstarch this week. We had meatloaf the other night and when I was making gravy I used the last of my cornstarch...figures, lol. In all actuality, though, I didn't have Dawn, either, but the gas station around the corner sells Dawn, but DH didn't see cornstarch.

I just wash all quilts when totally finished and all oil comes out, sometimes I get a little too generous oiling the race.
