Here is a Warm Wishes pattern I just did. It went together quickly. Each block is ten inches, but I think a "normal" pattern calls for 6 inch blocks.
I think turtles would look very good as the focus fabric in this pattern. |
Disappearing 9 patch (d9p) would be perfect.

You might try the "Disappearing 9 Patch". This is my go-to pattern when I can't think of anything else or I need a quilt quickly.
You need 9 patches (any size) all the same. 1. lay them out so that your focus fabric/print is at the 4 corners(those don't get cut. 2. patches 2,4,6 & 8 will "border" the prints. 3. use a dramatic or different color for the middle block. 4. sew them all together. 5. Cut down the middle (vertical) then across the middle (horizontal). 6. You can now arrange the 4 created cut blocks in any design. Layout for "Disappearing 9 Patch" |
Thank you so much for these instructions for the disappearing 9 patch! I can't wait to try it.

Dina....The tube tutorial that AngieS posted above is a really quick/easy pattern and can be dramatic also depending on the contrast of your fabrics.
