Help!!! I need a tutorial for the jelly roll tube quilt
 

Hi Everyone,
Hope your weekend is going better than mine. A lady I met @ Walmart told me about a tube quilt made with jelly rolls. I found one its called the Jelly Roll Race Quilt from Missouri Quilt Co, by Jennie Doan. Problem is I started as she said, but somewhere along the line I got lost, I believe I watched 20 times at least to find out where I messed up. Hope you can me find a Tutorial that I can print out, as I am at a lost. LOL!! you should see my floor with material strung all over I have the jelly roll sewing in one strip, I believe I did something wrong either at the beginning or at the part where the pieces are sewn together. Hope you ladies can help.

If you sewed it correctly you should have a length of about 1600 inches. Cut about 18 inches off the first fabric. Then bring the end of the last strip even with the first piece and sew the two strips together. (It's easier if you've untwisted that very long strip.) When you get to near the end of sewing, cut the fold of the two strips. Now take the beginning of the double strip and sew it to the other end of your double strip. Cut again when you get near the end. Now you'll have 4 strips sewn together. Do this 3 more times for a total of 5 times. Press, straighten up the edges. Put on a border if you wish. Hope this helps. I feel your pain! I watched the video a couple of times and said to myself "This is easy, no problem". I ended up with a big wad of twisted fabric at the end after only 8 seams, so I cut it off and limited myself to 8-strip sections without grabbing the bottom and bringing it up to the top. Can't wait to hear from other posters where we've gone wrong.

You sew all the strips into one long strip and then take both free ends and sew until you get to the fold. You cut the fold with scissors, now you have a two long strips sewed together. Fold the strips right sides together and sew from the free ends until you get to the fold. Cut the fold. Now fold that strip set right sides together and sew till you get to the fold. Keep going until you are done. I hope you can understand what I am saying. I have only done one, but they are pretty easy once you get it. Post a picture to show us what you have so far. Gina

All you have to do cut the twist. I don't roll my strips up just sew and if the twist gets too bad before I get to the end, I cut and resew the strip together. Takes no time at all. Here is a fun video to watch about the quilt.

I made one and did not check on one row that fabric was not twisted at the bottom. I wound up having to take the whole row apart, and I think that should be a caution in the directions . Checked every one of them after that.

Did you want the jelly roll quilt (it sounds as if you did this one) OR
the TUBE quilt that can be made with a jelly roll? This would give you a different look with squares instead of strips.
