Help with ideas.

What pattern would you use that follows these rules: no flowers, limited number of colors (like black and white and gray), limited number of fabrics (four is the max), one or two different blocks? Still trying to come up with a quilt idea that my daughter (she doesn't like the scrappy look or samplers at all) will approve. I've looked at so many quilt patterns that I've overload my brain. I'm starting fresh and will only look at ones you guys suggest. Thanking you in advance!!

Would alternating snowball blocks and four patches work?

Hay Margie, I'm from Houston too. I have the perfect pattern for you. It's called coarsewoven, and its from www.quilterscache.com. I have a daughter who is just as picky as yours is. hehehe Love her to death though. Its only three colors, and looks so easy, teadious though. Tell me what you think? Good luck.

I haven't made anything out of this book yet, but I have it and just about everything in it is on my to-do list!

My solution would be to make her come up with the pattern and pick the fabrics. The more input she has, the more likely she is to love it.

I made this for my daughter's best friends 21st birthday. Simple, fun, not "sampler-y". It would lent itself to a few other fabrics if you wanted.

Hi Margie,
Check out the mystique quilt on this site... Or the tuxedo.

I would suggest Woven Ribbons from quilters cache/ quilt blocks galore since seeing a sample on QB. I have bought 4 snazzy unrelated fabrics to try this pattern myself this year.

Hunters star, storm at sea, or you could google back and white quilts.

Jenny Doan has a really cool pattern, using fabric that is black, white and yellow. Very easy to do and looks like something a young woman would really like. It is called "Magic Squares". This is the video showing how to make it. Hope this helps.
