My friend made a quilt and I know I have seen an actual pattern for it. I don't have pictures, but here goes...It starts with a square, then she added a triangle to each side, creating a larger square. Then on the sides of that square she put 2 triangles together to form a big one and sewed it there. Now I know there is a name and a pattern for this quilt. Can anyone help?

Square in a square?

Well, I never thought of that. I will check it out.

I looked at the square in a square and that is the beginning of it. She sewed two traingles to make a large one and then sewed it to the sides of the larger square. Maybe this is something she did on a whim.

Sounds like the classic Amish diamond square pattern
