I have a relatively new to me (used) Janome 300e that is causing me to pull my hair out. I sewed a few designs with no trouble. Now when I try to do any design or monogram it sews just a couple stitches and makes a noise and stops with a message to check the needle, check for something stuck in the machine, etc. I have to take the hoop off - and to do that I have to carefully lift it and cut the thread loose under the fabric. After I take the fabric off I can see that there is top thread and bobbin thread all bunched up in the hole where the bobbin thread comes out. A couple times I've had to take the plate off and take the bobbin out to get the clump of thread out.

I have rethreaded (over and over), changed the needle, cleaned the bobbin area out - actually didn't have a bit of dirt, dust or lint in there. This machine has not been used more than 5 hours between me and the previous owner. She got rid of it for the very same reason I am thinking of selling it - I just can't seem to use it without problems.

Can anyone help me? Please!

Pat

Sometimes a thread will catch which doesn't allow the hoop to move. Check your bobbin holder. There is a little arm on the right hand side and if it loose, it will need to be replaced. That little armature has a spring, and if the arm is loose, the spring is broken. It is just part of watching when the design starts to make sure that the hoop is able to move freely. If your arm is alright, clean the bobbin area out, there is a thread somewhere. HOpe this helps you.

I have experienced the same thing at least 100 times over the past five years with my 300E. I have had it in the shop over and over again. The answer I got from my dealer is that I am having problems because I use my machine. The bobbin case has been replaced twice. It is very frustrating. I have found the bobbin is a common problem with Janomes after reading many, many reviews. I will never purchase a Janome again. Wish I could help you. It does take out the fun of embroidering.
