Help Me from shopping!!!

Hello everyone, our local Fabricland store is closing and this week all the quilting material, actually everything in the store, went on sale for 75% off!!!! Oh no....everytime I go out to finish my Christmas shopping, I end up going back and fabric shopping!!!!!!
Please give me words of "encouragement" to keep me out of the store!!!! hahahahahahahahahahaha
(I'm sure evryone else would finish their Christmas shopping first!!! ) LOL

gzuslivz 12-18-2012 11:51 AM

Isn't that kind of like asking a junkie to help you get off drugs?
The only way that I can do it is to give myself a cash allowance every payday and that's all I spend. When it's gone, shopping is done until next payday. Also, if I can become excited about a project that I already have the stuff for, it keeps my mind more focused. Honestly, most of us have that same dilemma. So, I wish you good luck:)

cad_queen_2000 12-18-2012 01:15 PM

question..... where in southern ontario is fabricland closing?? i am in southern ontario also, and if it is close enough, i would like to check it out.

susiequilt 12-18-2012 01:15 PM

You'll probably never have the opportunity again to buy at 75% off so I say "go for it'!
Buy it now and use it later!
Sorry no help to stop you from buying!
Maybe they have things useful for Christmas giving!
Scissors?

AndysC 12-18-2012 01:17 PM

Um, I am a newbie so maybe I justdon't understand, but aren't you SUPPOSED to stock up while it is on sale? I say, buy some of everything!!!!

NikkiLu 12-18-2012 01:18 PM

BUY IT NOW!!! I have been more sorry about the things that I have not bought than the things that I have bought.

auntpiggylpn 12-18-2012 01:19 PM

I cannot, in good conscious, tell you to NOT go and buy! How often are you able to buy fabric for 75% off? If you can fit it into your budget, then do it. I have been on a fabric diet since July 2012 and have only bought one 6 piece FQ bundle since placing myself on it. I would definately feel okay falling off the wagon to get stuff for 75% off!

Woodstock Fabricland is closing and moving to Tillsonburg. Fabricland wanted a larger store in Woodstock and say they couldn't find one, so moving to Tillsonburg. I wonder if it has something with Len's Mills moving into town. The store closes Dec 29. No thread left and very few notions. I did get a Olfa cutter for 75% off and about 15 yards of material so far.

Tothill 12-18-2012 04:23 PM

When my local Fanny's Fabrics closed I went through the Kwiksew drawer and bought dozens of patterns for about 75 cents each.

I have not sewn them all up yet, but they are great basic patterns for the whole family.

Lori S 12-18-2012 04:37 PM

At 75 percent off... I would fall off the wagon in a big way! Get the basics.. stuff that is timeless.

jodimarie 12-18-2012 04:38 PM

I have bought a TON of fabric when 3 of the local JoAnns closed and moved into larger stores.....75% off at first, then 80 and durning the last few days, it was all 90% off but they did not cut anything, you just bought was was left. I bought what I really liked first, then chose fabric that was OK and even bought a few yards of ''what was I thinking!!" fabric......I am still using it and feel like I have struck gold every time. $9.99 a yard fabric, marked down to 99 cents!!!! I would have been a fool to have passed it by and I am so grateful I did not!!!! If you can afford it, then go buy buy buy!!

BellaBoo 12-18-2012 04:46 PM

When Hancocks left our town I went everyday and bought whatever was marked down. I got Guttermann thread 10 spools for a $1!!!!! I bought about every spool they had. The other shoppers there during the morning were mostly knitter and crafters. No one cared about sewing thread. I bought fabric for 85% off if I bought what was left on the bolt. I went for the fusible interfacing, all Pellon on the bolt products, silver heat resistant fabric, all the basic stuff. I'm still using what I bought and I know I'm saving major dollars by buying what I did. You can't go wrong stocking up when it's dirt cheap.

xsquilter 12-18-2012 05:18 PM

You wouldn't see me for dust! This is my kind of sale & I'm not THAT far from Woodstock, but sadly I'm working too much now until the 27th. I guess that's good for my wallet!

DACO48 12-18-2012 05:28 PM

Another way to look at it, 75% off, that is 1/2 of 1/2. Prices really look good!!!

ging10ging 12-18-2012 05:35 PM

75 % I would be there where will you get another chance anytime soon. So enjoy. Not much help to not buy but when you get the chance you must take it and then go on the fabric diet the store will be closed soon. Sue

Charming 12-18-2012 05:43 PM

75%????? and you want us to stop you....heck nooooo go for it and pet and feel and BUY whatever you like and get us some....lol

nannyrick 12-18-2012 05:52 PM

Sorry, but I can't help you stay out of the store. If I was closer, I would drive you.

deedum 12-18-2012 05:53 PM

Good luck with that! It has been my experience, that I am more sorry later for not buying when I could and didn't.

joyce888 12-18-2012 05:59 PM

I'm an enabler. I would be right there with you buying more fabric than I would ever get sewn.

normasews 12-18-2012 06:44 PM

No help here. I say buy it while it's on sale. 75% is a pretty good discount.

Pattia 12-18-2012 06:45 PM

when our Fabricland closed up before I quilted, I bought lots of Christmas fabric to make present bags instead of using wrapping paper. I also bought ribbons, some buttons etc. for dirt cheap. I am still using some of the fabric and never regretted it.
I do regret that I did not quilt at that time. Now that I do, the Fabricland just south of me closed up over a year ago and I have to go down into Toronto or up north to get to a quilting store. There is no close quilt store near me at all so go for it, you won't regret it. lol

busy fingers 12-18-2012 10:39 PM

No help from me........buy as much as you want and then some more.

You need to do your bit for the economy:rolleyes:

DOTTYMO 12-18-2012 11:14 PM

Go for it you will need it for those days you can't get out of the house..snowed in, heated in, cold, headache, sewing..itus. Any reason .

bigbrownowl 12-19-2012 12:44 AM

What are you thinking, Brenda M? For goodness sake, get down there girl and spend! You would be foolish to pass up an opportunity like this! Think of it as SAVING you money in the long run...

Do you think I could get a flight over in time? I can bring a very large suitcase and just one change of clothes...

marymay 12-19-2012 04:05 AM

Not going to help you!!!! Sorry. I say "OPEN OPEN LET ME IN THAT STORE"

Debbie C 12-19-2012 04:09 AM

75% off is reason enough to stock up on fabrics, notions, whatever else I could get my hands on!! How often do you come across a sale like that? I'm sorry, but I'm not strong enough to walk away from something that tempting!!

phranny 12-19-2012 06:11 AM

I will meet you there! What an opportunity to build your stash!

patsynel 12-19-2012 06:28 AM

75% off is too good of a deal to pass up.

JoanneS 12-19-2012 06:58 AM

Sorry - I can't help. 75% off is way too good a discount. You're not going to see that anytime soon. Think of it as an investment, and promise yourself to not buy any more fabric for the next couple of years. Right.Like that's going to happen ~ ~ ~

Scakes 12-19-2012 07:00 AM

Have fun shopping! Be good to yourself - you deserve it! At 75% off, GO For It!!

Don't think I was much help but I might make a good cheerleader. :)

MimiBug123 12-19-2012 07:22 AM

Stop you? Heck no! If I was close enough, I'd drive DH's truck and stop to pick you up. Get off of this board and run, don't walk, back to that store. We can live vicariously through you for a great sale like that!!!

Tink's Mom 12-19-2012 07:23 AM

Sorry, no support from me....I have no will power....

Go for it!!!!!

Lori S 12-19-2012 07:26 AM
