I have finished my very first (small) wholecloth quilt, but I've got a big problem. I have it soaking in ice-cold water now for about 2 hours but the lines are not disappearing. I did not use any type of detergent, and have no idea why they are staying or what I can do. The wholecloth is black with light color printing.

Anybody have any advice?? I'm DYING to get this on my table as a tabletopper, and can't wait to show it off here. :)

Did you press the fabric before you started quilting? I know how tempting it is to iron any fabric before you start quilting. If you pressed it you may have set the markings. Maybe it would help if you used "warm" not hot water. I am assuming you are talking about a commercially premarked item. If all else fails give them a call or e-mail. Good luck.

Or a good scrub with a SHOUT stick; looks like a deoderant stick. It's taken out everything for me

I did press it from the back, but before I did I checked with the company (The Stencil Company) and they told me it's fine as long as I use a dry heat. The directions specfically say "When quilting is finished and binding is applied, soak in COLD water to remove the blue ink (30-60 minutes). If soiled, use detergent after lines are removed." ???????

I would call them rather than risk doing something that will set the lines. Does yours have the blue ink on it, or did they use something else to show better on the black fabric?

~ It almost is a whiteish blue. Maybe gray??

I would contact the company before I tried anything else. You may set the lines, and that would be a shame after all the work you have done.
