I've just finished this quilt but am stuck on how to machine quilt it. Not very good at free motion yet but would like to try something beside stitch in ditch. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I think this is the best one I've done so far and am afraid I'll ruin it.

I don't FMQ at all, so that would not be an option for me. What about stiching about 1/4 in. inside each sashing, on both sides? Or, could you stich diagonally from the corner of the top left block to the bottom right of the opposite block?

Beautiful quilt. I don't FMQ either so I know the feeling of not wanting to "ruin it". In the large open areas of the blocks, I trace designs or stencils with chalk and just machine stitch on the chalk lines. I don't like an all-over stippling--I think that's left over from my hand quilting days when I quilted each block individually. I use my old hand quilting stencils for the designs in my blocks and borders. Great job; good luck with your quilting.

Gorgeous quilt. I would not have a clue as to how to quilt it, that is always the worst decision I have to make!

lot's of long arm quilters here..sure they will give you some ideas. It's a very beautiful quilt.

radiating chevrons.

Outline stars going across the center to ones on opposite side. Makes the center real pretty. Not hard to do. I do not free motion, but do this frequently. Do not know where to go from there, but you will be inspired as you work.

Use "golden threads" tissue paper and find a design for the center of each block. Designs can be found online (google "continuous line quilting designs), or you could buy a book of motifs. Golden threads also sells packets of many designs. Then you just trace onto the paper and sew through it. Fool-proof. Perfect for us chickens
