HELP...need pattern advice/idea.

I thought I would use this fabric in an Irish Chain, but when I laid the chain 9 patches on it I hated the look. It was just too busy. So now I am on a hunt for a block/pattern that will focus on the dog fabric.I thought about attic windows using two browns and a narrow red for the frame, but I am open to some other ideas. I also have a green (like the trees) with tiny paw prints.

well, BQ is a pattern from mapleislandquilts that uses 12 inch focus cuts. I like the way the fabric is shown off. easy to do. just watch directional prints when you lay out your blocks before adding strips to sides.

Here is one that I found on craftsy, but I don't have any measurements for the block.

BQ is nice for a focal fabric, but may be a little to sophisticated for a baby quilt. I do have another fabric (Kaffe Fassett) that would look great in a BQ so I may have to buy that pattern for another project.

How Funny! I made this tumbler quilt with the same two fabrics. It is just waiting to be quilted and the binding to be put on!

Very nice. I haven't graduated to tumblers yet. But it looks great.

I thought the tumbler was super simple. First time making one. Lots of starch and they sew together quickly. I have the Accuquilt Go and it snips the corners which made it easy to line them up.

REally like the tumbler block with that material.

Hmm, I would pick out 2 colors and make a center section of Bowtie blocks. they always look like dog bones to me! Then use your doggy print for a generous outer border.

I am currently making a top that may work for you. I am alternating a four patch with a piece of focus fabric the same size. Right now I am using a five inch square focus fabric, but I have also done it with four inches. Let me see if I can find pictures of both....in case either appeals to you.

...Okay, I found a D9P first that might interest you, then the next two pictures are of my four patch alternating with a focus fabric.

Really like the alternating 4 patch. It showcases the focus fabric beautifully. Thanks Dina.

Got a laugh out of the dog bones analogy. I might have to look up that black pattern.

Those cat quilts are really cute, allso your quilt inspector, and the purple one is really pretty. Are those leaves or feathers?

Those are leaves, kind of like fern leaves, I think. If you click on the picture, it will give you a close up view. I can do that twice on my computer. Maybe that works for you too? However, I have yet to figure out how to go back to the original picture. I end up starting at the front of the thread each time. I am probably just missing a step...and it is do-able. :)

oops, missed the baby part. i like the tumbler one. or snowball blocks would be nice too. something small but easy.

Warm Wishes or Snowball and 9 patch would be great for a baby.
