Help with Panto
 

I'm finally working on a Panto on my queen size quilt. I'm really having difficulty spacing my quilting. I think it's because I don't know how far to roll up on my take-up rail (does that make sense). Any tips on the sweet spot. I have a Juki 2000.

it depends whether your panto 'nests'. your panto should have a dot, or some other marking showing where the next row should start. because you are doing a large quilt, remember that your juki will only have a little over 4" of quilting depth by the time you roll your quilt to the other end. thus, be sure that your panto is not too tall for the quilt that you are doing. HTH

I'm doing a small meander. There's two 3 inch rows on the pattern and my spacing is still not right . One row nests perfectly the next there's about 1 inch of space in between, so I'm almost sure it's operator error (sounds better). I'm either rollong up to far or not far enough.sigh.

I'm not good at explaining things but there are some great you tube videos that will help you.

i would try placing the needle where the correct lowest point is for the next row. then roll the quilt. when you have enough clearance for the harp and front of sewing head, set the stops on the frame. then remove the needle and go to the beginning of the quilt pattern. does that make sense?

Yes this does make sense. Now must remember to do it. Just two more rows to do, then no more varigated thread for me. I'm using 40 wt., 100% cotton, my gosh it is so linty. Every second pass I clean my machine.

Try Superior Threads "Rainbows". It is a 40 wt variegated polyester with 1 inch color change and a nice sheen.

I have seen how to do this on youtube..... just can't remember who did it, but I'm sure there are lots of videos that help with this. It may have been Sharon Schamber...
