Help please
I have this pattern idont understand, whats the differance between crosscut and recut, one time its telling me to crosscut a strip and then it tells me to recut a strip .would like to know if the two are the same both of these is in the same pattern,,thanks

From the description that you give, it would seem that you make a cut and then that cut gets re-cut into smaller sizes??? Hope this makes senses after reading your pattern. Good luck!

Usually to crosscut a strip means to cut from one selvedge to the other -- a crossgrain cut.
Usually recut means to take one of the crosscut strips and sub-divide it. |
I read it as cross cut = cut a long (42" for example) strip into two 21" strips; or into more than two or three strips from the first long strip.
Recut would = where you perhaps sew two strips together on the long sides and then cut them into smaller segments such as you'd do to make parts for a 4-patch. These are instructions likely found in the making of blocks by speed or strip piecing, not template piecing. Jan in VA |
