I am making a quilt for DH, I fussy cut blocks and framed them in different colors and would like to set them in a black background. They are all different sizes though. I am thinking I need to break the top down and make it three columns. To get the blocks to be the same size I was thinking of adding the black around all of them and then triming them all to the same size and them add more black as sashing. Is that the right way to go about this? Thank you.

that's what i would do

yep, that's the idea. sounds great.

Yes. This is also a great way to salvage some extra blocks you have lying around too.

I would either do that, or frame some of the blocks in colors that are in the other blocks and then sash with the black.

Thanks for your responses. I don't know why I am having such a hard time figuring this out??
Actually, would I just add the extra strips to the sides to get the same width and after they are all the same width I could add sashing all the way around? |
