Help!!!
 

Oooooooomg. THIS is why I hate buying things I love without a clear purpose. I am NO good at it! Ok, so I bought 2 layer cakes of Pom Pom De Paris by Moda which I LOVE. However, I can't find anything to do with it! I'm the kind that usually finds a pattern and buys what I'm supposed to, to go with it... (Whenever I step outside my box like this I am always reminded as to WHY I operate that way! lol)

What I found that I wanted to do is http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/08/...ake-quilt.html but it's not going to work because that is very clearly lights and darks and I have more lights and mediums, with a couple darks. I am making this for someone very very dear to me and want it to be just right! I thought about doing the hourglass pattern, but she wasn't a fan of it, liking "squares" more than "triangles". I know I could make that one by buying white as the light, but I have two layer cakes and don't want to buy more if I can avoid it. PLEASE help me come up with something (relatively easy, but not boring)

I've done the same thing, but sliced it three times in each direction. I don't use straight cuts - instead I cut at an angle.

I haven't tried any of the "layer cakes" or rolls, or whatever the companies call them. They are really pretty to look at

Why not do a simple thing like a Big Block Quilt where you showcase the fabric without cutting it? I do not know how many pieces come in the layer cake, but if you sew them 8 per row and 10 rows in total you should be fine for with and length. It is simple but effective cottage pattern that showcases the fabric - no sashing, no borders, just blocks and binding and backing of your choice. Good luck! I've had the same trouble with layer cakes. It looks like a great idea to have all the fabrics and colors but then 'what to do' with them. I went online and bought extra fabric by the yard from same like of Moda and worked into a quilt I recently finished. I still have one layer cake to use up I'm going to look up the Double Slice and maybe it will be the answer.
Glad I'm not the only one who winds up in a quandry of what to do with expensive things I've bought.

Amy Butler's fabrics add so much contrast and variety you can make something beautiful with large squares.

The large Twister quilts are easy but require the large twister ruler. They are made with the layer cakes

If you google "Pom Pom De Paris Quilt images" - you should get a whole bunch of quilts using the Pom Pom De Paris - when you find one you like just click on it and it should take you to a website where it was made. I found one that uses charm squares (one fourth of a layer cake) that looked very cute - its called Brocante Schnibbles Charm Pack Pattern- it was on the FatQuartershop.com website. Good luck.
