Help!!!!!!!
 

I started quilting my daughter-in-law's quilt and did something I've always, always, always been careful not to do. I got the extra fabric that hangs off all sides folded under and quilted through it too. Is there a way I can get that fabric out from under the stitches without having to rip that section out since it's a large area? I know it's probably just wishful thinking that I won't have to rip out all of those stitches!!!

I'm afraid the only way is ripping-sorry!

I've done that too!! So sorry don't know of anything to do but sit in front of the TV and pick out the stitches.

I was afraid that I'd have no choice but to rip out stitches. I know what I'll be doing in the morning. :(

I did that once with a scrap strip of fabric, and I slowly and carefully picked apart the weave of the fabric and pulled the threads out from under the stitching. However, that strip was only about half an inch wide. I'm afraid you probably wouldn't be able to do that with a large chunk of fabric.

We've all been there and after you rip this all out you probably won't do it again for a long time. I know I'm really paranoid about it now. Experience is the best teacher of all.

Been there, done that (more than once), but ripping it isn't nearly as bad as you think it will be.

If the fabric that you stitched to the back is all expendable, I'd cut it close to the stitches and pick it out as Peckish suggested.

Reminds me of the time I stitched the article of clothing I was hemming on my lap to the slacks I was wearing...

When I do that, I cut off the folded under part as close to the stitching as I can get and then using a long pin or my seam ripper, I pull the weave apart. Good as new!
