I would like to know if anyone has made a quilt from Hockey Jeresy's. Let me know if it can be done. What are the draw backs. I have had one person tell me not to attempt it.

What I was able to find by googling is that you make them like a t-shirt quilt. It said 16" blocks, but that would depend on the size of the jerseys. Squares or rectangle of the knit fabric should be stabilized using a very thin woven cotton iron-on. Then either sew them together or add sashing and sew together. Many people also made the borders with left over pieces of the Jerseys(stabablized also). There is quite a bit of information about t-shirt quilts. One lady said she would never do it again, but there are longarm sites that make them for people, so you should be able to do it. Good Luck!

I can't help with the quilt but I bet it would be a great memory quilt for him. Hello and welcome.

My son is a coach and I shortened about 30 football jerseys for him by about 6 inches, I plan to make him a throw with these, just haven't gotten around to it yet,I was thinking maybe strips sewn to a foundation in a quilt as you go method.

I know this is and old post but wanted to share a picture of the quilt I made with hockey jersies. It was very heavy, took a lot of planning, and was difficult to quilt on the longarm because of the thickness of the numbers, emblems, etc. I think it turned out awesome. The young man I made it for was thrilled when he saw it, and his mom LOVED it.
