Hot Classes/Techniques?
 

I am curious what you all believe are the "hottest" trends, techniques, or classes to take. I am involved with an organization and I will be surveying the membership to see what they would like to learn in a class for the day--9:30-2:30. In preparation for this, I though I would ask all of you since I really appreciate this board. Any thoughts or ideas are surely welcome! Thanks in advance.

I've never taken a class, nor am I apt to. I'd think maybe showing some new patterns, showing what thread is best for what, what new gadgets are available??????????????

I am a firm believer in classses that stress the basics along with a project that will be easy to finish.
There may be too many classes where students may finish one or two blocks and because the technique is too involved will never finish it.
Classes that inspire the student to go further.
I had good response recently with a class in old fashioned string piecing.
My binding class is always full as is hand and machine quilting.

i would be (surveying) what new techniques your members are interested in learning- and have technique classes- maybe paper piecing, or english paper piecing- needle turn applique, fusable- curved piecing- it just depends on what your group is interested in- maybe everyone would like to learn to make a bargello- or a water color quilt- or stained glass applique---maybe they are all pros at all of those-and want a project class===to get small items made- there are so many choices- you really need to see what they are interested in/wanting to learn :)

I think Holice has the right answer and I'd like to add that an easy pattern that can be changed into different blocks or secondary designs.
