hot foot control

Does anyone know what causes the foot pedal/control to get hot--there are no loose wires or screws-machine does fine?

What kind of machine is it for? Different machines have different pedals. I burned out a foot pedal on my older Bernina. It would continue sewing after I took my foot off. I replaced the foot pedal under warranty.

I have a 603 Singer I had to replace the foot control many years ago. I can still use it occasionally. Until it gets hot. LOL

Not, sure, but that would worry me that something was wrong with the wiring inside the pedal where I couldn't see. If I were you, I would be sure to unplug that machine when not in use. Please stay safe.

I have no idea but would certainly replace it, or at least have it looked at by a repair person.

I worry that there is an issue with the power somewhere between your wall outlet and the machine.

There might be a loose wire in the foot pedal.

I would be concerned too. Better to replace the pedal than risk starting a fire. They aren't that expensive. I paid $20 for one for a machine I bought used w/o the pedal.

It's perfectly normal for a carbon pile foot pedal to get very warm...especially if you're sewing slowly (& continuously). You could replace it with an electronic one....they don't get warm.
