How do I attach the darn handles?

I need help! I am not a professional at making bags so when the directions are not completely clear I have a panic attack. I am making The executive insulated lunch purse designed by Denise Clark. I received the book as a gift from my SIL and decided to make this bag for her.

My problem is that the pattern does not state whether to attach the handles to the right side or the wrong side of the fabric. If someone has a few minutes it is possible to "google" executive insulated lunch purse- Denise Clark and be taken to the directions. Maybe if one of you were to read the directions you would know what I should do.

Thank you in advance for your help. I have to finish this by next week. I have all the pieces cut and the insulation fused; it's the darn question about the handles that stumps me.

Hugs

How I understand it, it is sewn between the outside fabric and the lining. The right side of the lining and the right side of the outside....right sides together with the handle in between. Without seeing the pattern steps this would be my guess. Keep us posted on your progress.:)

This free purse pattern shows the method I've used - http://www.linda-matthews.com/embell...purse-pattern/

I think it's the same method that erstan947 explained.

Thanks. I need to look at the pattern again. The zipper has to be sewn in between the handles before the lining is attached. I hate it when I get this confused.
