I want to make this, with a plain center, and 4 lights and 4 darks, how do I know how many yards (or meters, in my case, but I can do the conversions) I need of each colour? This is boggling my mind!

I would make it maybe 6 blocks by 8 blocks, 12" each.

Buy lots! lol Then you can add what is left over to your stash. :)

Yea, that crossed my mind, except the fabric I want is like, 15 bucks a meter for each fabric in the collection, I need 8 colours....

Holy Hanna!!! That's going to be an expensive cabin.

Ok, what if I made this one only a wall hanging, at 6" blocks, still 4 colors, of each light and dark, then it shouldn't add up to THAT much!

You won't need much for your hearth (center square) and the first rows of lights and darks won't take alot, it's when you get to the outer strips that it will take more yardage.

I think you can do it without having it costing your first born grandchild...lol :)

lol, I hope so!

I figure I'll buy the minimum I calculated, then if I need more I'll just go back and get it -it's not like I don't work there!

Also, it's a new collection, the bolts are full, and it's expensive, what are the chances we'll run out? And since it's new we can always order more.

Using finished log widths of 1.25" and finished center width of 2.5" for a total finished block size of 12.5", which is only slightly bigger than you wanted, you would need the following yardage for 48 blocks of four lights and four darks (colors given are per your picture for mapping clarity):

centers (red) .375 yards
fabric 1 (light blue) .625 yards
fabric 2 (light brown) .875 yards
fabric 3 (medium light blue) 1.125 yards
fabric 4 (medium light brown) 1.25 yards
fabric 5 (medium dark blue) 1.25 yards
fabric 6 (medium dark brown) 1.75 yards
fabric 7 (dark blue) 2 yards
fabric 8 (dark brown) 2.25 yards

Hope that helps. 8)

I snuck some pictures at work today, this is the collection I want to use

the ones with the black b/g and the white b/g, maybe the reds for the centers
