How do you cut coninuous bias binding without the hump??

I've tried to cut bias binding with the tube method and each time wind up with a big hump where I put the ruler on the diagaonal to match up the cutting line. I hope this makes any sense. The finished product on the videos do not show it having this look. What am I doing wrong? I like Sharon Schamber's method of cutting but I would like to avoid sewing all those short strips together(or am I doing that wrong too?)

of course I can't find mine right now but I googled "making bias binding" and found a link, it gives the formula for how big of a piece you need to make enough, you cut a square, corner to corner, flip it and sew it, the sew into a tube, then you cut one long continous line and end up with a long strip of bias having only sewed two pieces together.

I very rarely make continuous bias binding but I tried the tube method and had difficulty keeping my strips even. When I use it now, I measure and cut the strips from my fabric yardage with it laying flat. I would rather sew the ends together and have perfect strips for binding.

I did not have great success with the tube method either. When I need bias binding, I just use 2 long rulers and cut the strips individually.

This is the method I use. You have to mark each strip before you join the tube. It does take a bit of extra time, but I get a perfect strip.

I rarely had success with the continuous method, so when I do bias binding I cut the strips and sew together. Maybe I will try again with the method/information on the site PaperPrincess posted. Thank-you for that!

I would rather use more fabric and have fewer seams in my binding (when I have enough to be extravagant)

Here is a tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company that shows you how to make 200" of continuous binding from 1/2 yard of fabric.

I don't use the tube method. For the old fashioned way just be very careful that your fabric is folded straight and that the ruler is very accurately positioned on the fold. I check my strip after every cut.

Forget all the tube stuff. Buy this ruler and you'll never regret having it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gJN2dyYlIQ
