How do you incorporate stripes & medallions in your quilts?

Planning "the-one-after-this-one" and finding that (today) I'm liking fabrics that look like European wallpaper. Are these types of stripes & medallions typically rendered in borders & large "fussy cut" squares, or have you used them differently? What suggestions would you have for using these styles?

Go to Jinny Beyer's website for loads of ideas of how she uses these types of prints and stripes.

The Benartex blog has some patterns using some of Paula Nadelstern's prints. Scroll down to 'Stars in the Window' on this blog.

I have used fabrics like this in several different ways.
A really cool way is to fussy cut the medallion and then frame it with the border stripe, mitering the corners of the frame fabric.
One way to use just the stripe type fabric is to cut it into squares and alternate the orientation of the squares so it looks woven.
