I thought this fabric would be cool made up into a drunkard's path quilt. It makes me drunk just looking at it. I have two different color. What do you think?

I had to come back and clarify that I plan to pair these fabrics up with a solid. Probably a blue on one and a brown on the other. Now, what do you think?

bearisgray 08-22-2011 03:07 PM

Love the fabrics - don't think I'd like it for a Drunkard's Path, though.

Jeanniejo 08-22-2011 03:07 PM

Should be great !! I love blue and brown together!

I was thinking this as well

alikat110 08-22-2011 03:08 PM

I say booze it up!

PaperPrincess 08-22-2011 03:09 PM

I think it would be cool, but I would choose one and pair it with a solid maybe burnt orange? Or an orangy batik?

sahm4605 08-22-2011 03:11 PM

make a couple of blocks for it and see how you like it.

tammy cosper 08-22-2011 03:13 PM

I think it would look neat if you paired the white with brown stripes to a dark brown and paired the other one to a tan brown. Lay it next to them and see how it look. I think if you just use these to fabrics its going to make people dizzy to look at it. But I do think the fabric would make a great effect.

Putting them together will probably not give you the contrast the DP suggests. I'd go with either and a solid.

#1piecemaker 08-22-2011 03:15 PM

Oh! I guess I wasn't clear. I meant to pair them up with a solid color and make two separate quilts!

MadQuilter 08-22-2011 03:16 PM

Oh - PERFECT!

quilter68 08-22-2011 03:17 PM

This is the first blue and brown that I like together. It will be good.

I am doing a dark, dark blue and bright orange for my GS and wife in the Drunkards path pattern. Sort of Asian fabrics and they are Japanese and Cambodian so it is their choice. I only have a couple of blocks done but I like it.

If I can take a photo of a block I will post it.

Likewise. I like the fabric, but cut up small enough for DP, I don't think I would care for it myself. JMHO The design would be too disrupted.

Annaquilts 08-22-2011 03:46 PM

Yes, this!

Personally, I think you're going to totally loose both the impact of the fabric AND the impact of the DP block...but I do like the fabric. Make up a 16 patch and see what you think before committing to a whole quilt, let alone two of them.

bebe 08-22-2011 04:00 PM

maybe use in the border but not in the block
will distract from the block
my opinion :-D

quiltmouse 08-22-2011 04:00 PM

Suggestion ... audition it.

cut drunkard path holes in sheets of paper or cloth in the contrast color you plan to use, lay it on the fabric. Or cut a few pieces.

It sounds like a good idea, but IMHO, you are going to lose the impact of both the drunkard's path pieces AND your wavy fabric.

(cool if I'm wrong, tho)

Monika 08-22-2011 04:01 PM

Love them!!!

sewwhat85 08-22-2011 05:01 PM

love those fabrics

Jim 08-22-2011 05:18 PM

Id love it...after all dizziness goes with drunkardness doesn't it?...lol

QuiltnNan 08-22-2011 05:22 PM

if you add solids, i wouldn't use blue. i like the fabrics though.

tmg 08-23-2011 03:02 AM

I am drunk looking. It should work.

Krystyna 08-23-2011 03:03 AM

I'd love to see the finished quilt.

Jeanniebelle 08-23-2011 03:14 AM

I love both pieces of fabric. I would use a lighter brown and a medium blue solids. I am with you, I feel like I am drunk when looking at fabric. Jeanniebelle

This is what I was thinking as well. Good suggestion to do a sample always before cutting the whole fabric.

Stitchit123 08-23-2011 04:50 AM

I don't think you need to do anything with those fabs -I feel drunk scrolling slowly past them. They made me feel dizzy

Laughing because Stitchit123 has a good point! :)

theresa.redington 08-23-2011 05:04 AM

OOPS!

Homespun 08-23-2011 05:07 AM

Audition them first..let us look again!

grannypat7925 08-23-2011 05:11 AM

Can't visualize it but that fabric would make me to dizzy to work on it.

grannyp70 08-23-2011 05:17 AM

WOW I see how that would make you drunk just looking at it. I think that if you like it for a drunkard's path then you need to make one. In my opion I don't think that I could sew with this one. LOL LOL Love to see what it looks like when you are done with it.

Love the fabrics! Where did you find them? I would like to use them to make a quilt for baby boy!
