I have a class tomorrow, and I'm going scrappy so I have lots of pieces of fabric to bring. I don't want to spend the class time ironing! I have them all wrapped around a cardboard tube right now, but it's ... awkward at best. How do you transport your fabrics when you bring them along with you?

I bought 12x12 inch plastic scrapbooking containers to take to classes. They hold all my pieces and any finished blocks. Got it at Hobby Lobby.

I use zip loc bags ( so many sizes ) and get the air out , while zipping them . Having the air out keeps them from moving around. Having them in plastic lets them( the bags) move but they do not wrinkle. I discovered the whole wrapping in plastic thing when I had to do alot of travel for work, and did not want to have to re-iron everything once I arrived.

I do what you do. I agree that it's awkward. Another thing that I've done - if I am carrying a lot of strips to class, I wrap them around cardboard tubes. I cut down the cardboard tubes from empty rolls of batting into 12 inch lengths. But that's also a little awkward.

This is not my idea, but came from one of my scrappy buddies. We use paper plates to keep small pieces separated. They stack, are light weight and can be reused. Several plates can be put in a plastic bag.
