I have a quilt for one of my twins...some of the squares have come apart and need to be fixed....how do you do this? Take it apart and fix from the underside? or is there a way to nicely fix the squares from the top?

I have no idea really. But I have a couple to fix also, one is about 20 yrs old the other 15 - both are very well loved. They were originally tied, I will take them apart and do what I can to fix the holes, seams, etc then put it on my machine with new backing and batting and hope they hold up for another 15-20 yrs,.

I just stitch the blocks together by hand. Start back far enough that you can secure the machine stitching, back stitch so it will hold and just sew one piece to the other. Same if quilting has come apart - start back into the quilting stitches so you secure it and just requilt it. There may be a tute on here but haven't seen it. I've even replaced blocks like this.

I would fix it from the top using a tiny hand applique stitch. If you use a matching thread I bet you won't even be able to see the fix.

when I fix antique quilts I trim the old patch away measure the new patch so it will fit into the space very carefully with tiny stitches sew the patch onto the space making sure there are no bubbles or uneven fabric try to make it so the stitches do not show. iron the patch to make sure it fits into the space. try to use a fabric that goes along with the quilt top so it looks natural and if there is any splitting of the fabric beside the patch be sure to tack those down so they don't spread.
