You definitely want extra mats. I use the strip cutters a lot. Look at the Accuquilt site to get an idea of what is available.

I love mine.. I have all geometrical dies, including tumbler and the hexagon, the 8in rag, 2 strip dies, stars, baby, duck/bear, circle applique, ton of extra mats, but my favorite is the 2inch square die.. Great for using up scraps.. .

and I think i have a flower one too..

My next ones will be blazing star and maybe wedding ring..

When I get one, my first purchase is the 2 1/2 inch strip. Jelly rolls and bindings!!

I really like the tumbler die. My avatar quilt is made using the die.

My advice from experience. Don't go overboard in buying dies when you get your machine. Think of those you will use now. I bought too many initially and have not even unwrapped them. I use the 2.5" strip regularily. Get a rain check for a certain number or amount that you can get as you need them or intend to use in the very near future. Also don't get those that you can more easily cut with the rotary cutter. I have debated getting the 3.5" for borders but then it would not be worth it to just cut for two or three crib quilts. Unless you make a lot of quilts using 3.5" squares. Cuttng the strips would be faster then recut with rotary cutter or you can turn the strip and cut the square.

Thank you to everyone for the great advice!

One question. Is it a good idea to cut denim with cutter or is the material too thick? Thank you!

Once you get your machine sign up for accuquilts newsletter. They have what's called a daily deal where you can get dies at a reduced cost.I got really lucky and got the entire baby line that had three different dies for only29.99. Huge reduction.Good luck and have fun. Oh and if you have friends with go cutters you can always borrow. I have 2 friends that have them and we all swap dies instead of buying new ones.

Just went to their website - looks like they're having an end of summer sale. Here's the link:
