...in your lifetime? You can count the ones you have started and not finished yet.
I started number 70 about a month ago. It would have been more but I only started quilting in 1992. |
Only 3.
i'm estimating but i'm some where around 242 quilts in 8 years.
that includes the quilts i sell. |
Absolutely no idea! I made the first one for my doll 55 years ago. Still have it...and the doll. People actually keep track of how many quilts they make? Why?
the only ones i can count for sure are the ones i sell. the ones i made for family/friends/gifts i have to estimate because i don't keep records of them.
I have a running record of every one. Finished or not. I give them a number and a name and tell a story of each one. Many times it says the same thing as the label, and sometimes much more. All the information is on a flash drive along with another folder that has their photographs.
I'm rattling around 30 or so.
I have been quilting for 1 1/2 years and have made 30 quilts (including quilt tops waiting to be quilted) and numerous table runners and wall hangings.
I have no idea, I guess I should keep better records, but never thought to do so. Just in the last year, I have started putting labels on them.
Maybe around 80, I'm not sure. Most of them have been given away.
Somewhere around 150 or so - but if you ask my hubby he might say 300.
Way to many by his count....... the other day at a local fair he was asked to buy a raffle ticket on a quilt and his reply to the gal was we have way to many quilts at our house - can't buy a ticket I might just win........ :D :D :D Scrap |
I take pics of everything I make, quilts, totes, purses, whatever. i make a lap quilt for every house I sell as a house warming present ( I am a Realtor as well) so it is probably over a 100.
I would have to say counting everything quilted or quilt related 500+. I made 41 Linus quilts last month. I have also done a lot of handquilting for other people over the years. If you add those the number is a lot higher. I handquilted two queen size quilts this summer. I have also made purses, tablerunners lots of wallhangings etc. etc. I made my first actual quilt in 1967.
Wow, you all have made a lot of quilts!   I'm working on number 8 right now. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do! |

I have made right around 100-including wall hangings, table runners, etc. I do have quite a few UFOs staring me in the face right now that would up that number if I finished them all!!
I had to make a list. If I didn't forget anything I've made 6 baby quilts, 33 wall hangings, and 42 quilts lap size or bigger. Most of the bigger quilts are either twin size or queen size. Plus too many table runners to count and 6 tree skirts.
Somewhere around 25. I didn't think it was that many til I started adding them up. I learned something new with each one.
Boston...you are way too organized!!!
I wish I had a photo of all the quilts, table runners, baby quilts and etc...that I gave away... I cannot get an accurate count because of this but I have made alot! Some great, some not so great... I laugh because some of my first ones that I gave away were so terrible (in my eyes now) that I cannot believe I gave them to the person... How funny!!! Kirsten |

Kirsten Anyway, I started taking pictures of my cross stitch and now my quilts. Glad I did too. I love looking at all the ones I have given away. I looked at my list today and for each one I have kept, I have given one away. |
I think around 20. Mostly baby quilts. Only 2 wall hangings and 1 twin have stayed at home. All others have been gifts. That will change in the coming year. I've put a moratorium on gift quilts until I get a few done for my own family, including a tree skirt and stockings.
Sad part is, my first quilt was a wall hanging that only measured 24" square. It had 25 appliqued hearts and took me 4 YEARS to complete! I was a college student at the time. Never worked on it during school, but couldn't bear to leave it at home. So every semester, it resided in my dresser drawer until the next summer/winter break. Didn't have a lot of time to devote to it, but felt so triumphant when finished. |
since i just started may 2008. I've done 8 or is it 9? lol
Sorry I asked.
Oh My Gosh ... I wish I knew! In the beginning I kept a picture of all my quilts. I even started to sell them on consignment at a local gift shop. But, over the years, with kids, job, etc, I stopped being so good about the pictures. I would say I've made an average of 15 quilts per year for the last 20 years. WOW... 300? That seems nearly impossible! But, I have to confess ... I'm looking at a huge pile right now that still need binding. And, from the ones I see, I know that one of them was 'finished' in 1999 -- so, I'm not really done with all of them
Why are you sorry you asked? I would give - well, a quilt, I guess, if I'd kept track of all my quilts/table runners. I am GUESSING I've made 75 all together.
Since I started quilting in the late '70s, I had made approximately one or two quilts per year. Then I retired in 2002 and have been quilting full time ever since, so the number has risen to a staggering 20 to 30 per year, depending on the complexity and the recipients. Needless to say, I am hopelessly addicted and never really feel "whole" unless I spend a minimum of a few minutes per day at this craft I love so much.
:D Thats a good question....
I know I am loosing truck... What do you specified as a finished quilt, do table runners and pot holders counts? I wish I knew...and I have started not so long ago... |
I have not made a potholder, so I wasn't thinking in that direction, but if it is quilted, you may count it. The smallest quilt I have made was about 12 x 18 inches, and I counted it.
As to whether it counts if it is not finished, I have done that also. I have many that are still in progress, and every one has a number. I leave it to the individual. Many people do not keep track of how many, but I truly enjoy having a record of when and why I made each one. A hundred years from now, someone may be interested in the story behind something that came from my hands. |
I havn't made any full size quilts yet but ive made about 10 baby quilts
I wish I had kept better records of quilts made. I've not made alot maybe 25 -30. I realized when I was filling out entry forms for my guilds quilt show that I would have liked to make notes as to where the pattern had come from. I purchased a three ring binder and have vowed to be better about keeping a record of my quilts made.
I believe we should count them by their size.... I al loosing truck of mine but I don't believe I made 50 (not yet)
I think I have 17 tops completed, since last April. I've started many more but lost interest or have gotten distracted. Now that I think of it, that's a lot of quilts, considering I have two jobs and a house to take care of!
My latest one isn't counted in there because it's not quite finished. I'm going to put some more borders on it before I count it as a finished top. |
I started quilting in 1975 but didn't really began making it a hobby until around 1988. I have pictures of every quilt I've made. I've given away a lot but think I have made about 70 or so.
Wow! There are some with a lot of quilts made. I have been quilting for about 8 years and have made about 40. I would love to quilt more but there seems to be so many time constraints.... :D
Wow! that is a lot of quilts. I know you make Art Quilts. What is the difference between the Art Quilt and Traditional Quilt?
Dear ghostrider,
What you said is all so true. Each quilt bring a little bit closer to perfection but always pure happiness in completing one. As for how many, I have no idea but I do know I've let a lot people know how I feel about them with those I've given away. And for the ones I've sold, many of my customers have brought me a picture to enjoy the happiness it brought to another. :D |
I was amazed when I put my quilt scrapbook together; I've made 90 quilts in almost 20 years!
I have made well over 850 Quilts. Started in the 60's. Made for church Auctions, friends, children. And at one time had a small shop on my front porch where I would put one in the window and have maybe 8-9 others. Lived on main highway so selling them was easy.
I love Quilting - It is my pleasure in each day. It is my JOY to feel the accomplishments... I do all my own quilting. either by hand or machine. Have more fabric then some quilt shops. lol  :Some sold cheap, most I gave away. I will tell you, you get better all the time. So keep going girls. I have a picture of each one in my album... |
Wow! Wish I could see your stash and a picture of all of those quilts!!
Two.
Both throw-sized (48" x 48"), and both given as wedding gifts this summer. I'm currently working on about 5 more, everything from wall-hanging size to queen bed size. Jan |
