your ironing board cover. Apparently without trying, I press my blocks in the same spot of the board and I wind up scorching the pad to the point where it starts to get holes in it. Hence I'm changing the pad several times a year - anyone else with this problem?

Can't say I have to change that often, but I do certainly have a worn area where I do most of the pressing. I got one of those small portable tables that Walmart sells - just a little bigger than a TV tray table - and had DH cut a thin piece of plywood to cover it which I then covered with some batting and the silver ironing board material. That is what I use for pressing blocks. It's really handy because I can set it right beside me when I'm sewing and easily move it out of the way when I'm not.

Now that you bring up the subject, it's cover could stand to be changed out!

I just lay a piece of flannel over my board, so I can throw it in the wash and don't have to replace my cover.

I too change mine as often as the spills, burn spots, paint, etc. start to really bother me.

I use alot of fusible web so quite often but I have a small tabletop ironing board so I just slap another piece of muslin or whatever is handy over it and staple it down.

Honestly, I need a new ironing board. They used to sell a really nice one at costco with a holder for the iron, but it hasn't been in the store for at least the last 6 months.

Mine doesn't have holes in it yet and I inherited that board from my mother 7 years ago

I've ironed on freezer paper to the scorched spots. Make sure you iron it on down over the edges. Eventually it gets dirty and I just change it

I use a big board and just recover it putting it over the old stapling underneath--usually use muslin. I can't stand the shiny silver covers.

I change mine or, make a new one or buy one at Joanns with a 50% off coupon, about once a year.
i have a piece of muslin i use for a pressing cloth on the bottom or the top of the fabric..so this saves the cover!
