I have been wanting to do a photo memory quilt for my dad and I was wondering how the heck would I quilt it. I will have 4x6 and larger photos. I dont want to take away from the pictures so how do you get around this. Thanks!!!

I think it depends a bit on what the rest of the quilt looks like. If some of it is pieced blocks and some is pictures, I would just sew in the ditch around the pictures and do more quilting in the other areas. That's what I've done in the past.

I do the same as main ladybug. I don't like to stitch over the pictures cuz' it seems the needle holes don't really go away, so I just stitch around them.

This was the first quilt I ever made. I stitched in the ditch around the phots and sashing but didn't know there was any other kind of quilting.

If I had to do it again, I would stitch in the ditch around the photos but do some other form of quilting on the borders.

(I also didn't have a clue about squaring up blocks so had a little distortion.)

Have fund - I loved putting the pictures to fabric!
