How to quilt this??
2 Attachment(s)
I made a top but now it's finished and I have absolutely no idea how to quilt this. The pictures are not the best but you get the idea of how the top looks like. I would love to have some advice!
Thanks :D |
I'm not very creative when it comes to choosing quilting designs. I would probably do an all over or use a pantograph. Someone will have a better idea. Although the LA quilter at the LQS says some quilt just look better with an all over design.

Thanks lisalovesquilting! I can't use panto's as I don't have a longarm so I have to do the quilting on my sewing machine.

I was thinking an all over design, too. How about Baptist Fan?

That's a lovely quilt. I see 3 different "blocks" for your custom quilting. I'd doing something that followed the "arrow" shapes (the light areas that point to the corners). Maybe adapt something from a table runner or a diamond pattern (I have a book of quilting designs that I use for inspiration, and that's often what I do - look for a similar shape and go from there). Then the crosses - I might even go with straight line quilting in the ditch on those, or maybe a cross-hatch. And the "circles" - dark center, light, dark rows. I see something loopy that radiates out from the center of those blocks.
Having said all that - I have a really hard time picking quilting designs. But I'm sure something will come to you, and the board members are really good at helping. |
I'd do large circles of feathers in the area that looks like a big circle (centered in the 2nd pic), and something smaller in the squares where the corners of your blocks meet. Does that make sense?

I would quilt grids in the light fabric areas and do feathers in the darker fabric areas.

I can not help it, Anael! But I can say that your top is beautiful!
Insurance you will receive very good advice (some have already done so) of the members of QB! A hug! |
Swirly meandering would be cool
