I'm going to call this Insanity or Extreme Lesson in Patience!
I don't cut straight. I don't sew straight. So what do I try? Right! 1/2" checkerboard to make some leftover cat fabric squares fit this new project! DUH!!! Well, it was a good learning experience and did make me slow down from my usual full-speed, hair-on-fire kind of sewing! But I know I haven't done as much ripping since Home Ec in high school! It is not an illusion - it is bigger at the bottom than the top so I will be going back for more ripping and adjusting. Looks like the flash kind of washed out the colors. As far as the quilting goes: I don't FMQ (yet - still need more practice) but I do OK with the walking foot. All I can think of is to underline the words. |
Very, very cute! If it's not off by too much, you may be able to "block" it to size instead of going back to readjust seams. Sharon Schamber has some good videos on Youtube about blocking to size using pins and spray starch.

Too funny - hair on fire, full speed ahead -- you're my kinda gal!
|
Thanks for the video tip Prism! It is something I need to know!!!
I'm hoping to do more taking in than ripping. We'll see. |
Anybody with quilting ideas for me?
|
Nope, but I like the quilt. we all should pay more attention to what our critters do. It would benefit all of us. Think I'll curl up and take a nap.
|

|
I don't know, maybe paw prints or hearts? Cute quilt!

That's so adorable. I love the sayings - wherever did you find that fabric? Good luck straightening it out - I have been putting off squaring a quilt since I have never done it before. Can't be worse than it is now. I chalk it up to being new and self taught, but I vow to learn something new every time (and THAT'S certainly coming to reality, since I make a goodly amount of boo boos).

Love the saying "if your happy and you know it, take a nap"
That made me laugh so loud, my husband came running! |
What in the cat hair is on the cat's head??
|
I love that quilt. It's a perfect cat quilt. Thanks for sharing.

Quilting has taught me to slow down and that is hard for me.And to measure twice and cut once.On the bright side you are adding to your scrap stash for a great string quilt!

The printed panels came from my LQS but then I got more from:
http://www.blockpartystudios.com/ and they have a lot of other themes too. I had to get another cat one to make for a friend and the RV one for our RV. |
I don't FMQ yet either :-) I would SID around the blocks and the diamonds/squares I see within some of the blocks, and maybe do some cross-hatching or simple stitching on the diagonal in the checkered areas.

You could also put a border around it then cut the border to make it all nice and square. K

I got it squared up with adjusting a couple of seams and then starching. Going to get it sandwiched and basted today.
Still looking for any quilting ideas! |
It's adorable.
Don't have to worry about furballs. :-) |
