I'm back to quilting after a 12 year break.... I recently attended a Quilt Fair and bought some beautiful fabric, which I am making a celtic knot quilt with. My problem is my little pieces of bias strips that I have left over.... I'm having a hard time deciding if I should toss them! Something in the back of my mind keeps saying "Oh ... you'll regret that when you need it later!"

Good Lord - will I end up on "Hoarders"?

What is YOUR general rule of thumb for deciding what gets tossed?
Thanks!

Don't be sorry. I'm just glad you found the answer you were looking for.

Welcome back to the quilting world and welcome to the Quilting Board. Can't wait to see pictures of your quilt.

WELCOME! muuhahaha

When my scrap bin was so full that I could do an entire quilt from it, I revisited my approach to saving. Now, I do the Eleanor Burns (toss the trash behind me) thing. I have never thought "Oh, I wish I hadn't thrown that snippet of fabric away"

I also scan the QB to see who is collecting scraps and then I share if I can.

You can sew the pieces of bias strips onto fabric squares and then alternate their placement.. just sew them on in the seam line and leave them loose in the middle for a 3D effect...

Yep! I know that I am one.

We are tearing up the carpets and putting wood floors into our home. To do that, I had to find creative ways of storing the furniture, DVDs, computer desk paraphernalia and other things. I started cleaning out closets and found a big bag of scraps...."toss it" I said to my daughter who was helping me. Thankfully, she just sat it down in another place and when I saw it, I came to my senses...."What was I thinking?" I've got to keep my scraps!

I grabbed the bag and put it in my closet....hopefully I'll remember that it is there after we are done with the floors.

Welcome to the board. I keep nearly all of my scraps.

I, too, keep all my scraps. My favorite relaxation is making crumb blocks. I made a quilt with them for the twin bed in the computer room. I used the Fun & Done method.

What I want to know is where did you get a picture of my gray tabby and white cat?
