How to store fabric in cubeical?

I am in the process of reorganizing my sewing room. I am using white Closetmaid cubeicals. Should I put the fabric in ziploc bags or will it be fine just sitting on the shelf? I would prefer to just leave it on the shelf, it's easier to see for me that way, I think. Now that we're all moved into the new place, I actually have 2 sewing rooms--one for cutting and scrapbooking and the other for my machines and sewing. So I'm trying to get everything organized a little better. Thanks :)

I would not put the fabric in plastic bags. I don't see anything wrong with just putting them on the shelf, and to avoid dust and fading from sunlight, you could drape or hang a sheet over your stash when you're not actively shopping it.

I have mine open.. this is just my 1930's fabs from scraps to yardages... I have another cubical one just for FQ.. I have about 4 of these around my room.. i love them... I can see what I have at a glance..

I like to just store mine on the shelves without plastic. I keep my kits in bags and work-in-progress blocks in bags too.

I have some on shelves and some in cubes...moving tip...put a pc of construction paper under the bottom fabric...it will allow you to slide the whole stack out to see it easily without messing up your folds... then they just slide right back in... and it takes up no room at all...

My fabrics are in plastic cubes...I have a curtain I hang over the closet they are in when I am not actively sewing in my room. I wouldn't put them in plastic bags, unless you are going to leave the bags open so the fabric can still get air.

I keep mine in plastic bins on a wire shelf unit. This way you just slide the bin out and your fabric is standing upright in the bin and you can just pull out what you need without messing up a stack. It is working out very well for me. It was also a cheap way to organize since the shelves were $16 at Target and the bins were on sale for $1.69 at Staples.
