made an address book for your correspondents on this site? I have a folder with notes. Wondering the best way to record username, name, address & details of swap. Many of you have been here a while!
This is funny!! I was just going through pieces of paper with addresses and such on them and was wondering what to do with them.
Just got rid of a lot of my slips of paper by entering the info into a data base. Microsoft Office Suite has a great one.
I bought a separate address book at the Dollar store for board names and addresses....

yep, I would do spreadsheet. |
Both are good ideas! Having them on the computer is grand and having a small address book is good as well for safe keeping :)
Good question! I'm fairly new here so I don't have many addresses yet... but I think I'll start a new notebook today to keep track of this stuff. Plus maybe some info on the swaps so I can keep 'em straight too. It's probably easier to use a computer program to sort these things but I prefer writing it on actual paper.
Hadn't even thought about it, but it's a good idea.
I bought an index card note book to keep info such as name addy user name and any other details I need.
Sounds like a good idea! For me, just keeping a record of names vs screen names would be helpful!

If one prefers the paper and pencil route, a rolodex type system is handy. Cards can be updated and alphabetized easily.

Admin has a system available for swaps. See his posts in this thread:http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm
Does anyone use this? |
i have a small journal type note book which i keep all information for any swaps, block of the month's, people i send scraps to, challenges, contests, ect. i manage to keep it fairly organized, and have any addresses, or project details readily available all in one place. i also have a recipe card file box with cards in it to use for swaps and i keep addresses in it for any continuing activities.
So far I have been using a little notebook for quilting. 3x5 cards sound good.
I keep a spreadsheet for my personal mailing addresses.
Haven't been here long enough to get addresses from anyone, but I'd even use a column in my spreadsheet for notations.. the who's who so I wouldn't accidentally send one thing to someone else and vice versa. |
I have 3 x 5 index cards and file them by user name in alpha order and on the card, I write down
user name (from where) real name and address birthday comments: (like how long quilting, favorite colors etc.) and if I do a swap will have that information on it also has a calendar to put down when swaps are due, birthday list etc. (and can set up a reminder for yourself) also you could create a private yahoo group to store the information online with databases for swaps, address book and you can store your links there from surfing etc. I have one! for my eyes only (private) |
