Thank you to all that replied. I didn't know that that feature was linked to the needle down feature. If you have it on needle up for some reason, how do you control the presser foot? I didn't thinki there was a manual lift.

There is a button on the front of machine to push for the foot to go up.

Correct...needle up button on machine...when you have it in up position after you lift your foot off the pedal your needle and foot auto lift up and stay in the up position.
Same if needle down...But diff is that when you lift your foot off the pedal your needle stays down but your foot lifts up for pivot...

Also you do not need to push button to lower the foot.
When you start sewing the foot automaticaly lowers.
It is a great feature and I love the needle down feature the best.
